Simple BreathworkPrivacy Policy
This policy explains how the Simple Breathwork: Breath Hold app for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Vision Pro and Apple Watch (the "app") and the simplebreathwork.app website (the "site") handle information. Simple Breathwork is operated by Daniel Gnecco ("we", "us"). Questions: hello@simplebreathwork.app.
The short version: the app has no accounts and no ads, and your breathing and Health data stay on your Apple devices. The only data the App Store privacy label lists is purchase history, not linked to your identity, used to unlock Premium.
1. Data stored on your device
The following is stored locally on your device so the app can work. It isn't uploaded to us:
- Session settings: rounds, breaths, pace, hold preferences, sound, haptics and reminders
- Session history: dates, durations and breath-hold times, personal records and streaks
- Program progress (for example the 7-day routine and the 21-day program, including rest-day tokens)
- Onboarding answers used to suggest starting settings
A small summary (such as your streak, session count and best hold) is shared with the app's widget, Live Activity and Dynamic Island through Apple's on-device app group storage. Deleting the app permanently deletes this data.
2. Apple Health (optional)
Apple Health access is off until you turn it on and allow it in Apple's permission screen. If you do, the app:
- writes each completed session to Health as Mindful Minutes, and
- reads your heart rate during breath holds so the session summary can show your average heart rate for each hold.
Health data is read and written on your device. It is never uploaded to us, never shared with third parties (including our subscription provider), and never used for advertising or marketing. You can change or revoke access at any time in the Health app or iOS Settings.
3. Apple Watch
Sessions you complete on Apple Watch are sent directly to your paired iPhone using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework and saved to your on-device history. Your iPhone tells the watch whether Premium is active. This data travels only between your own devices.
4. Purchases
Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple through your Apple Account; we never see your payment details. To manage subscriptions, the app uses a subscription infrastructure provider, which receives an anonymous random identifier and purchase receipt information, never your name, email address or payment details. This is the "purchase history, not linked to you" data on the App Store label. Apple's handling of payments is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
5. Notifications and sharing
If you turn on reminders, the app schedules local notifications on your device; no push tokens are created and no notification data is sent to a server. When you tap Share on a session or milestone, the image is created on your device and opened in Apple's share sheet. Nothing is shared unless you choose a destination.
6. What we don't do
- We don't sell personal data or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We don't show ads or use advertising or tracking SDKs, and the app doesn't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We don't access your camera, microphone, contacts or location.
- We don't upload or share Apple Health data.
- We don't require or offer user accounts.
7. Your choices and rights
Because app data lives on your device, you control it directly: deleting the app deletes it, and you can remove Health data in the Health app. Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, UK or California), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold, and to object to some processing. For any privacy question or request, email hello@simplebreathwork.app. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription; manage subscriptions in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
8. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. This website
You can read simplebreathwork.app without an account. The site doesn't use cookies, advertising pixels or third-party analytics, and it doesn't have forms. The breath-hold timer and breathing pacers run entirely in your browser; your times are kept only in the open page and are not sent anywhere. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard request information (such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, under Cloudflare's Privacy Policy. App Store links take you to Apple, where Apple's policies apply. If you email us, we use your message and email address only to reply.
10. Changes
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new date. If a change materially affects how the app uses your information, we'll also tell you in the app or on the App Store listing.
